Soup Kiosk: Digger’s Revival - 'The Artist With Two Brains' - MOT International Off-site project
A mobile Soup Kiosk was constructed and located in the pedestrian area of St. Paul’s Square, Birmingham. Free homemade soup was distributed to visitors, allowing for people to gravitate around the kiosk for warmth and conversation. This was a site-specific temporary event. An outdoor work that required public interaction and engagement. The painting, ‘Potato Planting, 1884’ by Vincent Van Gogh was reproduced on the front of the kiosk. The Soup Kiosk made reference to the plight of The Diggers of 1649 in England and the actions of The Diggers of 1968 in San Francisco.
